Jordan and the Czech Republic signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the energy and mineral resources fields. Jordan Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh and Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Sikela signed the agreement. Kharabsheh said the MoU called for cooperation in planning, politics, and energy demand estimation using economic models.
The agreement also called for collaboration in electricity, sustainable energy, and energy efficiency, through a focus on energy rationalization and expertise exchange on smart grids. Additionally, the minister said, the two governments will cooperate in the fields of industrial minerals, remote sensing technology, geophysical studies, expertise exchange in mining, and technical studies for evaluating and exploring minerals. The Czech ambassador to Amman, Joseph Kotski, and a number of Czech officials attended the meeting.
